Sarah and Chance's modern, romantic wedding at The Farmhouse
Sarah and Chance are such an awesome, fun loving couple. Since we have a mutual love for cats, we hit it off right away! :) We got to know them during their engagement shoot and Sarah’s bridal shoot, which both took place at their wedding venue, The Farmhouse in Montgomery, Texas. The Farmhouse is a newer venue outside of Houston, and it’s one of those venues photographers dream about!
Reasons why The Farmhouse is one of the best wedding venues in the Greater Houston area:
1) The chapel – gorgeous floor to ceiling windows at the front, a clean simple look (white shiplap walls and ceiling), modern light fixtures, big enough to seat a crowd with enough room for photographers to move around!
2) The main building – lots of natural window light, beautiful getting ready rooms with plenty of space, the balcony!!!, tall ceilings, white walls, and a large wraparound patio
3) The outdoor space – scenic rolling grassy hills, lots of greenery, and the outside view of the chapel
I could go on and on about this venue. Seriously, it’s amazing. If you are thinking about getting married in the Houston area, check this place out!!
The Big Day!
It’s hard to know what the weather is going to be like in Texas, especially in January. Sarah and Chance’s wedding day ended up being sunny and beautiful! They decided to see each other before the ceremony inside the chapel, and it was such a sweet moment between the two of them. Sarah held back tears and Chance had a huge smile on his face. I loved that the bridesmaids were all huddled around the window in the back, trying to catch a glimpse. After years of dating, and almost a year and a half of wedding planning, the day was finally here!! The Farmhouse’s cat decided to sneak in for the first look as well (this same kitty followed Sarah around for her entire bridal session and it was too funny!!). Their friends were super fun to hang out with! Chance gave his groomsmen Dragon Ball Z dragon balls and socks, and we made sure to photograph the guys striking a pose with their gifts. I shouted out (awkwardly without thinking) “show me your balls!,” which resulted in some hilarious photos. I’m glad they had a great sense of humor! We love when couples incorporate unique details in their wedding that are important to them. One of the sweetest moments of the day was when Sarah’s dad saw her for the first time. He was speechless, and his face radiated pure love and joy. They had a beautiful ceremony with a string quartet. I may have shed a few tears when they were saying their vows!
White, Green, and Blue Wedding Colors
Sarah is a planner, and you could tell that she meticulously planned every beautiful detail of the day. She wore a delicate Wtoo by Watters wedding dress and pearl earrings that were a gift from Chance. Her hair was styled in a romantic updo with a braid (and added in a floral comb after the ceremony). Chance had a dark blue 3 piece suit with a light blue tie. Both her bouquet and his boutonnière had white flowers with greenery and blue accents. The bridesmaids wore french blue dresses from Wtoo and the groomsmen wore navy suits. The ceremony and reception sites were swoon worthy! The chandeliers were wrapped in greenery and delicate white flowers. The ceremony windows were framed with a garland of greenery, white flowers, and french blue fabric. The aisle was lined with the same fabric and tall romantic candles. The reception tables were decorated with a mix of tall and low floral centerpieces and candles.
The Reception
Sarah and Chance’s friends laughed and danced the night away. They had cake and pie! They also used the magic GIF photobooth, which guests had a blast using. They snuck out for some nighttime portraits, and we used the projector for some Dragon Ball Z inspired photos! It was a little chilly, but they braved the cold for a few minutes, and I’m so glad they did!!! They had a private last dance at the end of the night, which we always love photographing! What a wonderful day and a wonderful couple!!!
